Red Planet Rescue sends three kinds of data. None of it includes your name or contact details.
With feedback:
With every run:
Posting a score sends:
Only your best score per device and sector is kept. Posting again replaces the initials and flag.
Entries are public on the world board, apart from the board id. Opening the World tab sends the board id, if there is one, so the game can show your best. Reporting an entry stores your board id with the report; a device that has never posted sends nothing when it reports. Entries reported several times are hidden. Our server uses IP addresses only in memory, for rate limiting, and never stores them.
Entries and reports, including the reporter's board id, are kept until they are removed; they do not expire. Delete my data forgets the board id on your device, so your next post starts as a new player, but it does not remove an entry already posted. To have entries removed, email info@zguy.com.
The install id is a random code made on your machine when the game first starts. It is not derived from your name, account or hardware. It only lets us see that several runs came from the same install. In the game's Settings, under Privacy & data, you can turn Same id on my runs off: the id is forgotten and each run is sent on its own, with only its random run code. Turning it back on makes a new id. If you had Share usage data off in an earlier version, Same id on my runs starts off.
The game never asks for your name or email. The only exception is an email you choose to leave on the phone feedback page, covered below. We do not store your IP address: the service that receives feedback keeps only a keyed hash for rate limiting, and clears it every night, and the world high score server holds IP addresses in memory only, for rate limiting.
The feedback screen shows a QR code. It opens a page on zguy.com (www.zguy.com/games/red-planet-rescue/feedback) on your phone. The page sends the note or rating you type, and the run code shown in the game. It sends nothing else from your phone.
Feedback and usage data go to zguys Service Desk (desk.zguy.com). The Red Planet Rescue team and Service Desk administrators can see it. We tag the free text of notes each night with an AI model from Anthropic to group similar feedback. The text is not used to train that model.
Feedback and usage data are kept for 365 days and then deleted.
If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian before sending feedback or posting a world high score.
