We're looking for a strong, independent mid-level engineer who wants ownership, variety, and a clear path toward senior-level responsibility. This role supports an active growth phase across both client and product work, with a strong likelihood of transitioning to a permanent position.

What You'll Do

Design, build, test, and deploy full-stack features end-to-end
Write clean, well-typed TypeScript using modern best practices
Develop production-ready features with Next.js (SSR/SSG, API routes)
Contribute to database schema design and performance optimisation
Containerise services using Docker for consistent environments
Use AI-assisted development tools to increase velocity and quality
Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions

Required

3+ years commercial software engineering experience
Strong proficiency in TypeScript
Production experience with Next.js
Practical Docker experience (Dockerfiles, Compose, container workflows)
Solid SQL and/or NoSQL database experience
Comfortable working remotely 30+ hours/week
Strong written communication and problem-solving skills
Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice to Have

Experience with C# / .NET backend services
Mobile development experience (Flutter or React Native)
Experience in small, fast-moving teams or startup environments

Compensation

AUD $90k–$110k equivalent (pro-rated for contract), depending on experience.
